The Role: 

Our Lawn Care Specialists perform a full range of residential lawn care services with little to minimal supervision.  Essential duties and responsibilities include, among others:

• Mowing and performing general lawn care and landscaping work

• Trimming, edging, and blowing lawns, walks, patios, and landscaped areas 

• Completing general cleanup to maintain a clean, professional worksite

• Safe loading, hauling, unloading, and operation of lawn equipment and materials 

• Driving a ¾ton pickup with 16’ trailer as needed 

• Following safety guidelines and job instructions at all times

About J Bond’s Lawn Care: 

J Bond’s Lawn Care is a small business started by Josh Bond in 2016 to help pay for college after he decided to turn his hobby into a business. After graduating and realizing the business was a success, he decided to keep going and expand to be able serve even more customers. Expansion is an ongoing process! Today J Bond’s Lawn Care is looking to add a team member to aid in everyday operations and help the company grow. Now is the time to get in on the ground floor while this business is small. As this business grows there may be opportunity for advancement and more working hours may become available.

Job Description

JOB TITLE: Lawn Care Specialist

Location: Onsite, Columbia, MO, and surrounding areas

Summary: This job is a responsible “Laborer” job. This position requires this person to exercise discretion and independent judgment with regard to working with J Bond’s Lawn Care customers. The person holding this position is responsible for effectively performing his/her duties with little or no direct supervision. This is considered a “Safety Sensitive” position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. • Adhering to Company Core values: Show up; do quality work; and have integrity and pride in your work.
• Adhering Work Schedule, Attendance & Punctuality Policy: Showing up for all scheduled shifts on time and ready to work;
• Mowing lawns;
• Trimming, edging and blowing off walks, patios, spaces, among others;
• Trimming bushes;
• Seeding with a spreader or by hand;
• Operating a leaf blower or similar;
• Driving to locations (truck with 16′ trailer);
• Loading and unloading equipment from truck/trailer; securing equipment per Company specifications;
• Cleaning up the work site according to Company specifications; maintaining a clean worksite;
• Adhering to safety instructions;
• Moving rock, debris, mulch, straw or similar products using wheelbarrow and/or shovel;
• Documenting work or issues as required to Company standards;

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Other landscaping or lawn care work or other seasonal non lawn care work, which may include snow removal or duties with physical requirements.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, the person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Six months consistent experience with Zero-Turn mower;
• Six months consistent experience preferred operating a string trimmer, edger and/or leaf blower efficiently and accurately without damage to siding or property;
• Ability to start string equipment
• Compensation is based on experience/skill level.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read, understand and comprehend basic instructions given in English verbally or by text messages; basic oral and written communication in English

MATH SKILLS:

• Ability to tell time
• Ability to count to 5
• Ability to measure fluids in order to mix fluids in ratio

REASONING ABILITY:

• Able to use good judgment in decision making, i.e. understanding when not to use trimmer next to siding (for an example judgment to trim under the siding next to foundation rather than trimming the siding; or judgment not to cut electrical wire;
• Able to use common sense to solve problems;
• Able to set priorities for efficient work;
• Understanding of when to reach out to supervisor for directions.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Operator’s license required to drive and maneuver 3/4 ton truck with 16′ trailer;
• Transportation to the initial jobsite or meeting point required;
• Drug free; must not be impaired while performing duties
• Must be able to pass a criminal background screen

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

• Use hands, fingers and arms to operate equipment;
• Regularly lift equipment that weighs up to 30 lbs and carry (while operating) for up to 30 minutes without a break;
• Regularly use arms and appropriately lifting technique to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds 100 feet
• Sufficient grip strength (and core body strength) to operate equipment repeatedly for extended periods of time.
• Navigate client territory, including steps, terraces and steep and uneven ground.
• Stoop, twist and bend while running trimmer.
• Crawl
• Climbing in and out of mower, trailer.
• Sit while driving between locations
